Test twenty markers on someone with nothing wrong with them, and the odds are better than even that at least one comes back flagged. Push it to a sixty-marker panel and it climbs to roughly 95%.
That happens because of how the ranges are built, rather than because of anything happening in your body. The guide explains why in plain English, and what it means for the panel someone is trying to sell you.

It is a line drawn around the middle 95% of healthy people, which means 1 in 20 healthy people land outside it by design. Once you see that, the arrows look very different.

The three things I look at before I look at the arrow: the trend, how far outside it sits, and the person it belongs to.
FBC, U&Es, LFTs, HbA1c, thyroid, ferritin, CRP, vitamin D and B12. What each one is genuinely asking, and where each gets misread.
The "normal but not optimal" move, the sixty-marker panel, and the one question that cuts through all of it: what decision would this result change?
Appointments are short. These buy you the most information per minute, including the one that keeps the conversation going when your bloods come back clean.
I see the fallout in clinic constantly. People arrive frightened by a number that means very little, and occasionally people arrive relaxed about a number that means quite a lot. The common thread is that nobody ever explained what the results actually are.
